Refinements, Inc. opened their doors for business thirteen years ago in July 1997. Owner, Cynthia Williams, an avid fan of consignment shopping, had a vision of a store that was organized, clean, well-lit, with dressing rooms bigger than a hat box, and top-notch clothing that would pass inspection from even the most critical eye. “Most of the consignment stores I visited were very small with a limited selection of items. The racks were so crowded you couldn’t even see anything. Then the dressing rooms were cramped and small and very claustrophobic.” Refinements has created a boutique atmosphere, where you can leisurely shop, enjoy the music and camaraderie of fellow consignment shoppers.

Refinements has something for everyone from designers such as Dolce & Cabana to Ann Taylor, Talbots to Old Navy, Coach to Nine West. What sets Refinements apart from other consignment stores is their fashion forward consignors who bring in items from all over the world. “Our consignors are very well-travelled. It’s not unusual to see kimonos from Japan, or items from Great Britain, Italy and France.”

Another reason to shop Refinements is the personal attention you’ll get from the staff. “We pride ourselves in giving honest opinions about how an outfit will look or fit. We try and find just the right outfit for your special occasion. Refinements has helped customers with their special fashion needs from a Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, to White House black tie affairs, to the Oscars. We like to call it the “WOW” factor. Once you step out of the dressing room, we know immediately if our efforts have been successful. You’ll get a resounding “WOW” from the staff and fellow shoppers.
